5 Day Best of Tanzania Safari

This 5-day Tanzania safari offers an immersive journey through some of East Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations, combining rich game viewing, dramatic landscapes, and comfortable mid-range to luxury accommodations. From elephant-filled savannahs and volcanic crater floors to the endless plains of the Serengeti, every day delivers a new and unforgettable safari experience.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a Lion King Safari representative and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha.
Depending on your arrival time, you may have the rest of the day to relax, recover from your journey, and prepare for the adventure ahead. Arusha is a vibrant safari hub and an important gateway to northern Tanzania’s national parks, offering a mix of local culture, markets, and mountain views.
Dinner and overnight stay will be at your lodge in Arusha.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park and Transfer to Karatu
After breakfast, your safari guide will pick you up and drive you to Tarangire National Park, a journey of approximately two and a half hours on well-maintained roads.
Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and the life-giving Tarangire River, which attracts wildlife especially during the dry season. You may encounter giraffes, zebras, buffalo, wildebeest, and antelopes, often followed closely by predators such as lions and leopards. The park is also a paradise for bird lovers, with one of the highest bird diversities in Africa.
You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park while surrounded by wildlife before continuing with an afternoon game drive.
Later, you will exit the park and transfer to Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, you will drive into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater.
This ancient volcanic caldera is often described as a natural wildlife sanctuary, home to dense populations of animals including wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, hippos, and flamingos. With some luck, you may also spot the rare and endangered black rhino. The crater floor offers one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, all contained within a dramatic natural amphitheater.
After your crater experience, you will continue your journey into the legendary Serengeti National Park, entering through the southern plains. The drive itself is scenic, with wildlife sightings possible along the way.
Dinner and overnight stay will be in the Serengeti.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park and Return to Karatu
Today is dedicated to exploring the vast and world-famous Serengeti National Park.
The Serengeti is known for its endless plains and incredible wildlife density, offering some of the best game viewing in Africa. Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes move across the plains in search of fresh grazing.
Throughout the day, you may encounter elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. The Serengeti’s timeless ecosystem provides unforgettable moments at every turn.
In the afternoon, you will begin your drive back toward Karatu, enjoying a final game viewing experience en route.
Dinner and overnight stay will be in Karatu.

Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park and Return to Arusha
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a compact yet incredibly diverse park set beneath the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment.
The park is known for its alkaline lake, seasonal flocks of flamingos, and rich birdlife with over 500 recorded species. You may also spot elephants in the forest, hippos in the pools, and the famous tree-climbing lions that rest in the acacia trees.
A picnic lunch will be enjoyed inside the park as you take in the scenery and wildlife.
After your game drive, you will begin your journey back to Arusha. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel, Arusha Airport, or Kilimanjaro International Airport, marking the end of your unforgettable Tanzania safari.
