This 6-day Kenya safari offers a rich journey through some of the country’s most iconic landscapes, from the world-famous Maasai Mara during the Great Migration, to Lake Nakuru’s bird-filled shores, and finally Amboseli National Park with its breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and large elephant herds. The experience blends classic game viewing, scenic drives, and unforgettable wildlife encounters before ending in Nairobi.
Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast in Nairobi, you will depart for the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s most celebrated wildlife destination and home to the Great Migration. Your journey takes you through the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley, where you will stop briefly at a viewpoint to take in the sweeping escarpments and capture photos. The drive continues through the town of Narok, a cultural gateway to Maasai land.
You will arrive at your camp in time for lunch and check in before enjoying a relaxed afternoon at leisure. An optional evening nature or walking safari may be available depending on your camp. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your camp in the Maasai Mara.
Day 2: Full Day in Maasai Mara National Reserve
The day begins early with a sunrise game drive, when wildlife is most active across the open savannah. This is one of the best times to spot lions, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, buffalo, and possibly large herds of wildebeest depending on the migration season. Return to camp for breakfast and relaxation before heading out again for more game drives across the reserve. You will explore different habitats in search of predators and grazing herbivores.
Lunch is served at the camp or enjoyed as a picnic in the bush depending on the day’s schedule. In the afternoon, you will continue with game viewing, capturing more wildlife moments in this rich ecosystem. Alternatively, you may opt for a full-day game drive with packed lunch for deeper exploration of the reserve.
Dinner and overnight stay will be at your camp in Maasai Mara.
Day 3: Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, you may have the option of visiting a traditional Maasai village to learn about their culture, customs, and way of life. You will then check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, traveling through scenic Rift Valley landscapes. Lunch is served en route as you continue your journey.
Upon arrival in Nakuru, you will check in at your hotel and enjoy a relaxed afternoon at leisure, resting after the long drive. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your hotel in Nakuru.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Amboseli National Park
After an early breakfast, you will enjoy a short game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its rhinos, flamingos, and over 250 bird species that thrive around the lake. Later, you will depart for Amboseli National Park, traveling across changing landscapes with lunch served en route.
As you approach Amboseli, the scenery opens up into vast plains with the majestic silhouette of Mount Kilimanjaro rising in the distance, creating one of Africa’s most iconic views. You will arrive in the evening, check in at your camp, enjoy dinner, and relax for the night.
Day 5: Full Day in Amboseli National Park
Today is dedicated to exploring Amboseli National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. You may choose between morning and afternoon game drives or a full-day safari with picnic lunch inside the park.
Wildlife sightings often include elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and a wide variety of bird species. The open plains make wildlife viewing easy and rewarding. Amboseli offers some of the best photographic opportunities in Africa, especially with elephants walking across the plains against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro.
Dinner and overnight stay will be at your camp.
