Day 1: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival in Kigali or from your hotel or residence, your professional driver guide will meet you for a warm welcome and briefing before starting your journey.
The day begins with a guided Kigali city tour, offering insight into Rwanda’s inspiring history and modern transformation. You will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a powerful and educational site that honors the victims of the 1994 genocide, followed by a visit to Kimironko Market, one of the city’s busiest local markets where you can experience Rwanda’s vibrant daily life and culture.
After lunch in Kigali, you will embark on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park in the north of Rwanda. The journey takes you through rolling green hills, terraced landscapes, and picturesque countryside that Rwanda is famous for.
Upon arrival, you will check in at your lodge, enjoy dinner, and relax as you prepare for the primate adventures ahead.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Twin Lakes Visit
After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by the park rangers. Here, you will learn about gorilla trekking guidelines and conservation efforts before being assigned a gorilla family to track.
You will then enter the forest for your gorilla trekking experience. Guided by experienced rangers, you will hike through bamboo forests and dense vegetation in search of the mountain gorillas. The trek is both thrilling and rewarding, and once you find the gorillas, you will spend a magical hour observing them as they feed, play, and interact in their natural habitat.
After this once in a lifetime encounter, you will return to your lodge for a well deserved lunch and rest.
In the afternoon, you will visit the beautiful Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Surrounded by rolling hills and volcanic scenery, these lakes offer stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere perfect for photography and relaxation.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking and Return to Kigali
After an early breakfast, you will proceed once again to the park headquarters for a briefing on golden monkey tracking. These playful and energetic primates are unique to the Virunga region and are known for their fast movements and lively behavior.
You will then enter the forest for your golden monkey trekking experience, enjoying close encounters and excellent photography opportunities as they jump through bamboo trees and forage in groups.
After the trek, you will return to the lodge or meet your guide for the drive back to Kigali. En route, you will stop at a selected local restaurant for lunch.
Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be dropped off at your hotel, residence, or Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your unforgettable Rwanda safari experience.
